Klean & Healthy

The “Clean & Healthy” Initiative

“Clean & Healthy” is KemetiCare’s philanthropic component. This segment of the ecosystem strives to improve the public health of the community, more specifically the pediatric population through educational lectures, microbiology experiments and demonstrations designed to educate the populous. We provide students with the skills and mindset necessary to prevent the spread of infectious diseases through hand washing, utilization of hand sanitizer and improved hygiene practices. This is primarily achieved by teaching proactive approaches to lifestyle habits and sanitary behaviors that decrease the transmission of pathogens and boost the immune system.

Our kinesthetic approach fosters an educational environment focused on interaction with our staff and repetitive behaviors that assist participants in changing previous unhygienic habits into healthy ones. Healthy lifestyle is promoted to encourage subsequent dissemination of the information to parents, siblings, and other members of the community. It is our hope that this initiative will improve the community’s health consciousness through strategic alteration of the next generation lifestyle.

On-site demonstrations are provided to children ages 5-13 and 14-18, highlighting basic knowledge about infectious diseases transmission, contraction, and the symptoms associated with upper & lower respiratory infection and sexually transmitted infection respectively. Participants leave the presentation confident, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about health and are encouraged promote subsequent dissemination of the information to parents, siblings, and other members of the community.

Objective Measure: Decrease student absenteeism due to preventable infectious disease.

Key Indicators: School student attendance record, de-identified school nursing records (number of students sent home due to infectious disease related illnesses).
